Darlingtonia californica - Flowering sized plant

One of the most distinctive pitcher plants, Darlingtonia californica aka the Cobra Lily is surprisingly an easy plant to grow! Darlingtonia californica is the only member in the genus, it is distantly related to its Eastern cousins Sarracenia, but it is found on the opposite coast, it also the only native Pitcher plant on the West Coast of North America!

Care for these plants is easy, the same as Sarracenia or sundews, they love light, should be kept wet, and no special fertilizers. The main distinction with Darlingtonia is their roots don't like to get too warm, take precautions if growing outside (Can be acclimated over time) Or if growing inside, make sure the water and soil aren't getting too warm

Depending on time of year their may be old pitchers as well as new pitchers. Old pitchers typically are red/black. New pitchers green. It is normal and not to worry!
